The Young Rider Trans Tasman Challenge was start in 1996. It is held bi-annually in each country. 2008’s event was postponed to 2009 because of the Equine Influenza outbreak in Australia, where the Kiwi team of Jesse Campbell, Lizzie Brown, Helen Bruce, Simon Gordon and Ashleigh McKinstry dominated.

1998 – NZ won at Auckland

2000 – NZ won at Berrima 

2002 – AUS won at Taupo

2004 – AUS won at Sydney

2006 – AUS won at Richfeilds

2008 – NZ won at Camperdown (This was held in 2009 though but was for the 2008 year)
