Andrew Mclean and Lucinda Green Eventing Presentation. Friday 3rd of February 2012 - 8am to 12 noon Mcleans Island.
“Never before has two of the world’s most acclaimed people in theory and practice combined to present their knowledge and techniques simultaneously. Lucinda Green has been one of the most successful event riders the world has ever seen, while Andrew McLean is currently the most acclaimed and published scientist in the emerging field of Equitation Science with a top-level eventing background. As a world first, New Zealand will therefore witness a fascinating dialogue that will yield an untold wealth of knowledge and the synthesis of tradition, advanced practice, innovation, logic, common sense and empirical theory in the training of the event horse.”
Andrew is also running a Dressage Presentation to kick off the ESNZ SI Dressage Championships. Thursday Feb 2nd from 5pm to 7:30 pm at Mcleans Island.
“Andrew McLean is currently the most acclaimed and published scientist in the emerging field of Equitation Science, a winner of Australia’s most prestigious award in science, the Eureka Science Prize for his contribution to animal welfare and one of the very few theorists with a strong competitive background in eventing, dressage and show-jumping. Andrew is one of the very few to have ever been invited to present 3 times at the Global Dressage Forum and has successfully coached Grand Prix riders in 5 different countries. From the neuroscience and biomechanical viewpoint Andrew sees himself as an ‘equine engineer’ - his simplified approach to the subject is embedded in animal learning processes and ethology, yet his love of animals shines clearly through this framework. His approach can be disarming to the traditionalist view, yet its success is beyond reproach. Nowadays Andrew specialises in teaching audiences to understand the theory and application of this knowledge, to liberate riders and trainers from the ‘dark ages of equestrianism’ so that they become empowered, confident and knowledgeable and able to see clearly beyond the barriers imposed by tradition.”
Organised by Bronny Scott and Donald Thomson of Equintessential in conjunction with Dressage Canterbury and Eventing Canterbury. |
